“My two daughters and I had a wonderful time on the tufting workshop with Alena. We love to buy experiences for each other for birthdays and Christmas so that we can spend quality time together and this was perfect! Alena is an excellent tutor and was on hand the whole time to help without taking over. After a concise but quick tutorial we were straight in and hands on with lots of guidance. It was great to get stuck in straight away and with Alena’s encouragement it didn’t feel daunting. The venue is bright and colourful which matches Alena perfectly! Everything that was needed was provided and very organised. We’d brought snacks and Alena was happy for us to munch away while we made our rugs. She is encouraging, enthusiastic and gives lots of praise along the way. The fact there there is plenty of parking was a bonus annd the venue is very accessible. “Alena was a wonderful teacher and incredibly talented artist. She’s very passionate about her craft and knows what she’s talking about. She instills confidence in you with the way she really can focus on both the attentions to detail and larger picture. We spent a good amount of time going over and testing colour combinations to create the correct tones and textures for my work. Having a tutor who matches the energy and passion you give to a project builds up your own confidence and makes you care more about the project you’re creating.

I feel that it wasn’t just the success of a finished project that has made me want to pursue tufting further into my art practice but rather its been taught by someone as dedicated to tufting as Alena. She never made me feel intimidated or overwhelmed and was happy to talk though the practice and its process with me as many times and in as many ways as I needed.

I would that this course is well worth the money and investment. I couldn’t see myself doing any less than 4 days with Alena as that amount of time gave me the time to process what I was doing and see a real time development of my own skills as well as the time to experiment with colour combinations.

It’s made me more than anything want to try tufting for myself in my own studio and see what i can make from it. The potential with tufting was realised in this class and I would fully recommend it to anyone wanting to learn to tuft.”
